Keep the device, connection and message length in a neutral note. A network interruption can delay a message without establishing how a model normally performs. One rapid reply likewise does not establish a guaranteed sub-second response.
Give relevance a concrete definition
Ask an invented adult travel planner to suggest two indoor activities for a rainy fictional afternoon. A relevant reply should preserve the number of suggestions, the indoor requirement and the weather context. Record each constraint separately.
Do not reward a long answer merely for sounding fluent. If it proposes outdoor activities after an indoor request, the answer missed an important condition even when it arrived quickly.
Introduce a harmless correction
Change one detail: the fictional group now prefers quiet activities. Observe whether the next answer follows that correction. This tests responsiveness to meaning rather than only response pace.
A reply that restates the new preference but gives the same mismatched suggestions should be recorded as a partial response. Keep the acceptance rule clear enough that a different reviewer could understand your decision.
Interpret a short record carefully
After a few turns, summarize the observations: timing varied; two constraints were followed; one correction was missed. Avoid a numerical ranking unless you disclose a suitable repeated test.
A short fictional exchange is sufficient for learning how to evaluate the interface. It does not require sharing intimate information or treating an AI character as a human relationship.
